Grizzly Bear Viewing Guide - Now Hiring for the 2023 season

Klahoose Coastal Adventures, in Toba Inlet, offers grizzly bear viewing tours hosted by the Klahoose First Nation, and partners. We are proudly First Nation owned and members of the Commercial Bear Viewing Association of BC.

Our grizzly bear viewing guides receive guests from our tour operator partners on day excursions from Campbell River, plus our own multi-day excursions from Klahoose Wilderness Resort. We are looking for skilled guides who are passionate about wildlife, the natural environment, and can be ambassadors for the Klahoose First Nation.

Your main duties will be to safely transport guest from our dock to bear viewing areas. From our fixed viewing platforms you will guide bear viewing tours to allow guests to watch the bears in their natural habitat. While guiding, you will share knowledge of the wildlife, the natural environment, and Klahoose culture and history.

The position will require you to learn new things, be flexible, and adapt to changes as the occur. You will need to be passionate about First Nation culture, reliable, and respectful. Successful applicants will be flexible and accommodating in their approach while interacting with guests and partners.

Skills Required (training may be available from some candidates):

  • Commercial Bear Viewing Level 1 (CBVA)

  • Drivers License (Class 4 an asset)

  • First Aid

​

The position requires remote camp living in Toba Inlet.

​

This is a seasonal position from late August to mid-October, which requires working shifts on holidays and weekends.
